Erte
taken in 1987 by George Hurrell. Vintage.
Stamp Signed Silver GelatinThis is a beautiful print in excellent condition; printed on double weight matte finish Agfa paper. This was shot at the Plaza Hotel to honor Erte's 95th birthday! It is rare to find Hurrell's later work!
One of the great artists of the twentieth century, Erte gained international fame during his twenty-two years at Harper's Bazaar, for whom he designed 250 covers and numerous drawings for the inside pages; and it was here that his Art Deco style emerged, earning him the moniker Father of Art Deco. Additionally, he dressed some of the greatest stars of the stage and screen and designed sets for opulent silent films and sets and costumes for theater and opera pieces.
